Has anyone got any tips on how to get the fan off i have been trying for over a day. This is so i can replace the alternator.

What a strange coincidence. I just got mine back from having a new alternator and the mechanic said the viscous fan was an utter pig to undo.. really tight bolt. Remember it's a left hand thread too I think.

they are a pain.

Leave belt on.

There are 3 little bolts.
I think you remove 1 of them,
Use a jamming tool or fan locking tool to hold the hub tight.

Put a fan spanner on the large nut and hit it with a mallet towards the coolant tank. Sharpe heavy blows

i used a holding tool from Advanced factors and the viscus fan spanner from Halfords. i also extended the spanner by using the handle of a small trolley jack on one of the spanners forks. it then easily came undone. however with out lengthening the spanner it would not budge.....
