As you only do 5k miles a year have you tried one of the "new" insurers that insure you by the mile.

If you have two or more cars in your household try a multi car policy. Our annual premium this year is £1537 for five cars, includes my RRS P400e, brand new, Mini JCW, 6 monhts old, Bentley Continental GTC, 6 years old and two cars owned and driven by my kids 22 yrs old and 19 years old. All fully comp. We are older than you and your wife J2D but have 20 years plus no claims. I was cynical at first and thought we would get screwed after the first year but this is our third year with them (Bell) and I think its great value. Excesses are fair too and vary from driver to driver and car to car. Also our mileages are Quite low c4-7k in each car per year. |

I've been very pleased with the pricing from Admiral on a family 3 car policy. I've yet to make a claim so don't know how they will stack up then, but they do charge an excess on windscreen repairs. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

I can recommend Routen Chaplin as the brokers that sorted my insurance out. Very helpful and well organised. |

I heard over the weekend that no fewer than 5 Range Rovers with the stupid keyless entry system have been stolen in my South Lincolnshire area in the past few weeks. It seems that the crooks used a scanner to 'listen' at the wall of the house for the signal from the fob, then replayed it to the car and made their escape! Easy..
