Mine comes on every time I stop the car,I think it’s something to do with the dash cam as it’s ever since I fitted it & it did the same in my other L494.Even if I leave on charge all day the day after the light appears again also if I give it a 3-4 hour run as soon as I stop the car the light appears,I think it’s only the small battery for the stop start in the rear that’s causing the problem as I’ve never had a problem starting the car.

The battery had 12.1 volts before starting this morning. It was 13.48 for the first two minutes all ok and then there was a whining noise from alternator I assume and voltage was 13.05 and dropping..

Strange that the alternator would fail as soon as I charged the battery. Its goin in on Thurs anyway. I have a funny feeling its the battery. I don't know why tho. |

Well I have just had it running for 20min on the drive. The voltage across the battery showed 12.1 V. After a while there were all sorts of bongs from the dash and all the warnings came on - I assume these were because the battery was only at 11.8v by then. I stopped it but it restarted no probs. I've got the battery on charge again as I need to drive it to the garage on Thurs. |

I would expect to see 14.4V or thereabouts if the alternator was performing correctly,, even if the battery was duff. The car won't run for very long if the battery is not getting any charge 2010 RRS, TDV8

That is symptomatic of a failed alternator - I had this earlier this year - will generate power sometimes but not all the time - dash lights and gongs. Car would still start and move but all sorts of failures. 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

If it only had 12.1V across it with the engine running then the alternator is . The loss of charge whilst running is also indicative of that. The battery could be damaged too by now, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Was nothing to do with a battery charger - there are no issues with putting on a charger with the battery in the car if it is done correctly. +ive on the +ive side of the battery and -ive on the earthing post near the battery, not on the -ive post of the battery.
