The part I don't really understand is, they will do a fault diagnosis to determine if engine requires replacement fair enough, they also say the diagnosis will take about an hour, again fair enough, but there is no way they can remove the sump to check the crankshaft and bearings and refit in a hour, so if it only takes a hour to determine if it requires a engine change they must know what to look for as the tell tale signs, and if that is the case then why the hell can't L/R check U.K vehicles, unless of course they think they will find to many that need replacing. I did think the first people knew of the issue was when the vehicle stopped abruptly, I am prepared to accept I might be talking complete and utter rubbish though.

Maybe they can do it from debris sampling the oil. That’s how they do it on aero engines and it’s very accurate. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Surely, if the failures are indeed down to bearing shells rotating and covering up oilways, there would be no debris until very shortly before the end?

Possibly excessive crankshaft end float, could check that at front pulley.
