Are Velars selling???

I was in a car park yesterday and saw a Velar parked. The thought came to me that I very rarely see one & can't remember the last time I saw one. Are they selling or not.

Not as well as I think Land Rover expected. I think most would prefer a sport. Perhaps their isn’t a gap in the market for them between the Evoque and Sport. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

If JLR priced them more at Evoque price than Sport and higher they might sell a few more........ my local dealer has an awful lot of late Plate low miles Velars on their forecourt including a lot of high spec ones at well below list price........ however in this month’s What Car? Mag they say one thing in the Velar’s favour against the new Aldi Q8 is that Velar holds its value well...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The Velar isn't that far behind the RRS and well ahead of the D5. Interesting that the DS, RRS are the best sellers, also how well the FFRR does compared to the rest.

As the flagship model you'd expect rather fewer sales of the FFRR, it seems to me, but it's right up there with some of the lesser models. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Probably because FFRR is still a car many people dream of owning - how many people aspire to one day owning a Cayenne or a Bentayga or a Cullinan, as well as there still being a very loyal customer base who would never own anything other than a FFRR so long as JLR keeps making them 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I remember when velars first came out & I specced one up on the LR site & the spec I want came out at about £1600 less than a AB sport. When I questioned it with the dealer didn’t have a answer. as I thought they would be sitting between the sport & the evoque so a top end evoque at say 60k & a sport at 85k ish at the time the velar should have been around 72k ish & not the 83.5k it was coming out at & that my friends is why they aren’t selling,,LR trying to take the Censored yet again.

Yup, the only thing wrong with a Velar is the ambitious pricing. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

You’re absolutely spot on... I do a lot of miles each year and thus replace my cars at 2-3 years old...
Previously I have had a Discovery D4 and a SDV6 RRS....
when looking to replace my last car I specced both the D5 and the Velar and couldn’t believe the price that they both came out at.... very similar to a new RRS.....

Madness! Hence I then bought the RRS...

The trouble is JLR being greedy and trying to chase market segments that don't exist. When the line up was logical as in Freelander, Disco and FFRR on the one hand and Evoque, RRS and FFRR (Defender was unique) it made sense. Punting the RRS right up the price list and introducing disco sport and velar confuses the market place and is greedy. So is reducing spec or making people pay more for what used to be standard, eg dynamic response arb's standard on RRS1 HSE.

Love my HSE RRS1 but it will be my last JLR for these reasons.

I’ve seen a couple round our way or on the local roads, but I simply don’t like it. Even if I had the cash or could afford the monthly payment I wouldn’t get one.

Interesting...
That also highlights the woeful sales of the Discovery... is that due to the pricing regime or the fact they are pig ugly?
