I am about to take out an extended warranty with JLR as my L494 is coming up to 3 years old.

I need to replace all four brakes & pads etc. The main dealer want £1,500 for the work.

A local specialist wants either ~£600 if they fit non-OEM parts, or ~£1,200 for OEM.

Question: if I fit the non-OEM what effect will that have on the warranty? Will I end up having all or any (non brake) warranty claims rejected or I am OK to go ahead and fit the cheaper parts?

Ask the main dealer the question. This is not for someone else to have a guess at. Also check what is covered as the extended warranty is not the same as the manufacturers warranty. Some things are not covered.

All the dealer will say is "all claims will be rejected" as they will want the business; I was hoping others may have been in a similar situation before & I might benefit from their experiences.

Would have thought it highly unlikely discs and pads would be covered under warranty anyway as these would be considered wear and tear items, mind you L/R might use it as a excuse if there was a problem with another part of the brake system.

Does it really need new discs! What mileage has it done?

44,000 miles; I have just checked the discs and all four have a lip on the outer edge - perhaps 1-2mm - so presume they do need changing.

It won't affect the warranty because brake pads and dsics are covered by it anyway. The calipers are but the make of pad / disc won't affect these anyway. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
