Inside rear tailgate. Have been a few posts about issues with them recently.

Cheers

They aren't great! It's probably working as designed!

Thought mine wasn't working, but it was when I checked it out Rolling Eyes

It isn't the greatest, but then it isn't intended to be a pimp my ride 15 inch blow your windows out job in the first place. There are limitations based around the physical location of it in the tailgate, so the relatively small size (I think around 8 inch) and the small cavity plus absence of dampening material all conspire against it.

That said, it does work and if you are in audio settings you will hear the difference sliding the scale from fully left to right.

Many, including me, struggled with the rattly, farty distorting issue. But that is relatively easy to fix and I put a post in tricks and tips explaining this.

The audio system itself is not too bad fed with a decent source. Feed it crap quality low bit rate mp3 and don't be surprised if it sounds crap. Garbage in, garbage out. Files at CD bitrate (or tidal streaming hi fi setting) are a minimum really (16 bit 44khz). Tidal Masters or high res is better. There's a good reason why no studio or serious musician records in or listens to mp3, because it is crap frankly.

Put your ear to the tailgate trim inside.
In the right side

You must have a loose connection then or your system is Censored. There is no need to stick your head next to the driver if it is working, assuming you have normal hearing.
