Audi-ophiles...

Attention all Audi people, I need your help.

Given the RRS may be moving on to pastures new, I'm casting my eye around at what's available. I have years of BMW ownership behind me so know what's available there without too much trouble, but was looking into the Audi range at alternatives.

I need reasonable space and want to cut down on spending £500/month on diesel, so economy is important but not to the detriment of performance. I suppose I'm looking in the A4 Avant range (A6 Avant uglier imho, although appreciate nicer spec etc).

What's the A4 engine of choice? I see they do both 2 and 3.0d engines in the A4... 2.0 seems a bit on the small side.

MDP... Kam... anyone else with Audi experience, what are your thoughts?

No Skoda comments, VA. Don't make me derail my own thread!! Confused

3.0tdi quattro mate.. all the way..
Tiptronic with paddle shifters on steering wheel.

We have this engine in the A8 and in that its very 'punchy!'
I also had that cab for the weekend, and that was the 3.0 tdi quattro and REALLY SHIFTED.. which is good..
God economy too, my dads is absolutely superb on the motorway, and very sensible around town too..

Shmoogle, how bout buying a second smaller car for the economy runs and keep the RRS on?

Or to keep it prestigious.. how bout a 53 plate C270 CDI Auto Estate? £11500, cost you like £150 a month.. have one ex reposessed vehicle, going for quite a bargain.. paragon car finance supplied. 90k on the clock, but still good price..

Second car option would be a good one. I'd need to justify to myself the lease cost of an expensive car I only use at weekends, though. Added to which, we only have space for two cars at home... Confused

The 3.0tdi quattro - I can get that in S-line can't I?

Never saw myself in a Merc, sorry Kam... Sad

Yes.. S line Avant.. Tip with sat nav/bluetooth yes?
Leather obviously and Bose preferable?
Xenons for you sir?

You can get them fully loaded, would you be looking new/used, would say to get one slightly used, so some other poor Censored has taken the hit on all the bits.. you never get ur money back with standard audi cars on the extras..

Let me know if you need any help, i know you have another broker who helps you usually, so no probs.. but if you do need any help, drop me a line.

Shmoogle I would go for the A6 Avant - it offers far more sspace - is better all round & best of all the interior is one of the best in my honest opinion Confused As for choice of engines I always head for the petrols - 3.2FSI Quattro with Tiptronic in S-Line trim
But if it's diesel - the as above but with 3.0 TDi

There are just toooooo many A4's on the road - the A6 is my choice.

However - they are introducing new cars like crazy at the moment. I def like the look of the smaller Q5 - esp if it comes with 4.2 Then there's the forthcoming A4 or A5 big Coupe = choices choices choices.

Go take a look at the Jeep SRT-8 £40k of sheer adrenaline

What about a new Freelander ????

I esp like the look of the new A6 allroad = chunky

If you want to save £'s but stand out from the crowd - chrysler 300c diesel with all the Bentley looks by startach.

Happy shopping Wink

I was assuming new, but you're right about the options not being worth a hill of beans after initial sale... I've always just accepted that's the case really. Added to which you never really know who's owned the car before you, how they've treated it etc...

Yes, satnav/bt... no so fussed about the sound system, but will take it if it's there obviously.

I do have an existing chap who I've been with for some time, but would at least be interested to see what figures you might come up with. Who knows, you might even beat him? Very Happy

Thanks Martin... I agree the A6 interior looked much better, and obviously the space is much greater but I can't get over the looks of the Avant. It's a very conservative looking car I think... you might for all the world be driving around in a Mondeo estate or a Volvo V50... still, all just imho Very Happy

Might wander by to play with the Jeep SRT, but it's obviously way off being a realistic purchase.

I was looking at the Audi website and the number of models they now have is unbelievable! A car for every purpose!

It is a lot better then the old shape... looks harder..

Have a little hunt around Shmoogle.. if its new your after, im helping a client with a Q7 right now, from the same dealer we got the RS4's from, so maybe able to get some discount off it..

Have a little hunt around, see what you want to get.
Plenty of used examples knocking around. 3.0 diesel engines, not much a rep could do in one of them to destroy the car, its not an M3 afterall.. i.e. high performance car which everyone rags when they drive it..

Hence wouldn't touch an ex demo RS4.. after seeing how everyone drove that, us included!! but every day normal 3.0 diesels etc, are usually ok.
I had all my Bmw's this way, saved stacks off list, and usually get nice spec'd ones through..

Send me a pm, let me know what you're looking to achieve figure wise etc, and i'll see what i can do on something that may take your fancy..
