Definitely not normal!
Mine can go weeks even months without being used and still works.
As standard they should have a rechargeable battery inside the fob that charges when in the ignition. Maybe it has reached the end of it's rechargeable life.
There's a guy on here who offers key fob replacements, maybe worth asking him as I'm sure he'll know about the batteries. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Sounds as if your fob rechargeable battery has reached the end of its life so is no longer holding a charge. You can buy the battery on eBay and change it yourself but it is quite tricky to open the fob case without damaging it or yourself and you need a soldering iron and superglue. Search this forum and the Disco 3 forum and you'll find a few very helpful 'how to' threads.

Alternatively look in the for sale section for details of a good battery replacement service offered by a forum member: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic45400.html 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

All good here thanks. Sorry to hear the problem is persisting. I don't recall anyone ever reporting failure of the charging system. Suppose very short journeys would mean inadequate time to charge the fob battery. Have you tried leaving the fob close to your electric toothbrush charging base overnight?
Or perhaps there is a problem on the fob PCB causing a battery drain? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

yes im charging it using my wifeless mobile charger. but does seem to go flat rather quickly. will have to test it out on a trip down southampton in a couple of months.hopefully its not a fault on the pcb borad. Time will tell.
