Tailgate lower switch button RRS 2007

Hi, apologies but I am new to this forum and have my first RRS HSE 2007 and I have a challenge with the lower switch on the tailgate. I am trying to find out how to buy a new switch and replace the switch but when I search I find lots of advice on the upper glass opening but cannot find anything on the lower main tailgate switch.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Ron

Welcome, and I replaced mine earlier this year.

I’ll try to dig out the paperwork and get back to you.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

Press the lock and unlock button on the dash together for 5 seconds
This will open tailgate

Remove carpeted trim from tailgate
Remove sub woofer ( I think)
Replace switch

Thanks Andy, yes I have been using the 2 buttons to open the tailgate but I need to replace the switch button so I can synchronise the key to open the tailgate.

Would you know where the buy a new switch button?

Ron

Sorry cant find it. Look on ebay and there are a few there. I assume you can open the tailgate?

If not its a pig to remove the trim covering the speaker and the button. Mine was stuck closed so I had to drill a circle into the panel underneath the black trim. The switch then turns to allow you to pull it out.

If the tailgate still open, its much easier. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5

Yes, I can open the tailgate by pushing the two buttons on the console. I will source a new switch and remove the plastic covering.

Thanks
