Updating maps on sat-nav

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread - I looked but could't find anything.

Can the maps database in a LR satnav (MY10 RRS) be updated? I'm starting to find that there enough newer roads out there now that my sat nav is getting confused.

I got a quote from a stealer in Stafford and it was £260 and the map update was only 2014/5....that was in February. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

The first facelift models 2009 to end 2011 have the sat nav system that can ONLY be updated by connecting to the computer in the range rover dealership. They then went to the system in 2012 where updates can be done by way of a USB stick. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Many thanks for the replies chaps. Was hoping to avoid the main dealer and use my local independent specialist guys, but I guess fate has decided otherwise!

can someone confirm who makes the maps for the SatNav, just thinking i could replace the file directly with an up to date version.

if you have a smart phone many of the mapping/routing apps are cheaper and continuously updated and also can be optioned at extra cost to have speed cams and traffic warnings. I know it is nice to have a satnav that is as up to date as possible but at that price is it worth the hassle of taking your car to the dealership and loosing the use of it for the day while they plug it into a PC and walk away but charge you an hour of main dealer rates labour for nothing? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I just use Google Maps on my iPhone 8 Plus hung from a magnet off the air vent. Considerably more functional and accurate mapping than the LR nav even back when it was brand new.

My wife does the same with her 2009 Volvo V50, amazingly the voice instructions come through the car speakers as it is connected via Bluetooth! 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Try Waze if you haven't already. Its by far the best sat nav system out there and whilst it used to be significantly more popular on the continent there are lots of people using it all over the UK now which means the information is far more up to date.

Weird, although I have also enabled this, the directions from GoogleMaps are never played over the car's audio... --
