I looked in to buying a £2k car too but too risky as one wrong move could end you with a car needing more than £2k to fix! Renting for a month was the best deal

I am still waiting for an ETA from Volvo. If it is < 1 month, we can easily manage without a car because both me and the Mrs. take the tube to work and we are going to be away for more than a week on holiday too. 1 month then renting makes sense. Car gone this morning (sold outside the forum). It was bit of a sad day, not helped by the news I got a couple of days ago that my Volvo has been delayed. Now looking at Jan/Feb Apparently the same reasons affecting most manufacturers.

I had already agreed the deal on the RRS and didn’t want to disappoint a buyer coming from up north. Otherwise I would have bought extended warranty, renewed InControl subscription, taxed it for another 6 months and kept the RRS. On a more positive note, being within manufacturer’s warranty, I could sell it relatively easily and got a decent price (for current environment). Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Won’t the Volvo dealer give you a loaner, it’s not your fault the cars build is delayed? BMW/Mini offered me a choice of car from their used car selection if the Sport could be sold before the Countryman arrived, all I had to do was insure it and put fuel in it. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim is correct, even the dealer in Spain gave me a loan car until my car was ready. You don't ask you don't get The dealer wanted my Sport, so I guess they had a buyer lined up. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

I never got a firm delivery date so technically this isn't a "delay". The initial indicative ETA of October meant that I would still have been without a car for 6-8 weeks because I was inclined to sell the RRS within warranty.

Agreed. I contacted the salesman and even though he is on holiday until Tuesday, he still responded to my email to say he will let me know after speaking to his manager upon his return.
