I thought I would share a recent experience with members regarding using the wrong brake bulb in my 2007 Range Rover sport.
This was an intermittent fault over the past few weeks.
Problems started with the car refusing to switch off, even when ignition off. Finally got it stopped.
Next outing the car refused to change gear, as well as refusing to switch off.
Drove the car at night with Christmas tree of lights warning me of a multitude of failures.
Noticed that only when the lights were on, the issues occurred. Big money identifying and fixing the problem was going through my mind.
On reviewing some RR forums; this one gave me an idea of where the problem might lie.

Remedy; I remembered I changed the brake bulb recently and looking back this was when the issues highlighted above started. I replaced the brake bulb and voila issue resolved with the purchase of a £2 bulb.

Yep, well known foible of modern non-L.E.D. Rear light units in Range Rovers and Discovery 3. Usually here when someone posts that they have an unaccountable light show on the dash but the car seems to run OK is to check that both rear brake lights are still illuminating. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
