Very impressive. Dont forget to add the OTR costs of £383 to the price you state.

What Would you do?

I currently have a RRS TDV6 on order for December delivery but am now wondering if I should change my order to a TDV8 Question
This will be my first RR and really dont want to feel I have made the wrong decision.
When I confirmed the spec of my current order a month ago my dealer assured me I would have to wait until spring 07 before I could get my hands on the TDV8 but I am now wondering if the wait would be worth it.
I am therefore looking for some guidance from all you real RR owners as you have the experience and expertise of owning a TDV6.
What would you do?
Thanks for any guidance, the more the better.
Kind Regards
John

How long are you planning on keeping it? If you're wanting to keep it for a while and it needs to be really special I'd wait for a TDV8. 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

John,

Was at the dealers today (test driving a D3 Shocked ) and briefly mentioned the TDV8 - was told demand is very high and even if ordered today they wouldn't be able to supply until next May Shocked Shocked

My 07 TDV6 is here in October and I dont believe I have chosen the wrong car for a second.

Thanks so far everyone.
I am planning to keep it at least 4 year and am not too concerned about the lower performanve of the TDV6 but more the residual value and the quietness of the new engin though I have to say I didnt think the TDV6 was too noisey.
I am still unsure and need more convincing one way or the other!!! Confused
Thanks again
John

I think both of them will retain their value as long as you keep them in very good condition I have to keep my RRS for 4 years as well but I have had mine for 14 months and it still looks new.Strangers are always complementing me on it and I have to say going to the dealership and seeing all those new Land Rovers Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy RRS TDV6 HSE BUCKINGHAM BLUE BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR RHODIUM TASMOD SILLS PARROT 3000 EVOLUTION WHITE SIDE REPEATERS RRPORT.CO.UK BROLLY & STICKER

John,

Re: Residuals. Its been implied on the forums a few times now that the TDV8 isn't actually competition for the TDV6 - its more competition for the SC. This can been seen in both the performance figures and pricing. IMO the price difference is significant enough to ensure a clear advantage for the TDV6 in the used car market on resale.

Just my thoughts

Kaine

No current problem with resale for the TDV6s... as an (isolated) example, my car broker managed to px a year-old TDV6 with 36k on the clock for £40k last week, so prices are holding up. To lose 5k in the first year of owning a £45k car is pretty good going I reckon.

Afraid I am not convinced. I suspect the TDv8 will become the largest seller within 12 months. I guess sales to date in the UK are very roughly 85% TDv6, 12.5% Supercharged and 2.5% 4.4.

The supercharged is almost £8k more than the 4.4, but very few buyers want the 4.4 and will happily pay the substantial premium for the SC. The TDv8 will only be about £5k more than the TDv6 HSE (2007 prices) and £5k less than the SC. I suspect the buying ratios this time next year will be around 60% TDv8, 35% TDv6, 5% SC and nil 4.4. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Look at the pricing though....

A lot of people are happy to spend 40k-something on a car but maybe not 50k+ .... I think there will still be a very valid market for the TDV6, certainly in the mid-term.

Agree with shmoogle to some extent - as there are plenty of people who will want to pay as little as poss [ entry level ] add a few bits & hey presto your car looks the same as a 60k car Wink
