Service countdown

I've just noticed a service countdown at 1850 miles. Initially I thought is was the oil dilution issue, despite doing quite a few long trips as a proportion of my mileage. I think it is decreasing by 50 miles / day, regardless of mileage. I believe that, as my Jaguar did previously, it does this as a countdown to the annual service if it is going to reach a year before it reaches 16k miles. I've done just under 5k miles in the 8 months I've had it.

My car was purchased in mid-November 2017. It was ordered by someone else, and I bought it as the order was cancelled. I got a good discount. One thing that I have noticed is that the free map updates on https://landrover.here.com run out on 23rd August. 1850 miles at 50 miles/day take us to the 24th August. I don't think this is a coincidence! I suspect the car had it's PDI on the 24th August, ready for September delivery, and that is why it now thinks it is approaching 1 year old.

Can I get the timer reset to November, or do I just leave it and ignore that it's asking for a service until the service is actually due?

PS - the engine was removed (to get to a bolt that had snapped and needed drilling out) less than a month / 500 miles ago. Would the oil have been drained, and thus changed, then anyway? RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

2013 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue

This is exactly what has happened on my Sept 17 RRS.... The service advisor told me they PDI'd it in August and therefore it thinks it's soon due a service. It currently says my service is required now despite only doing 9000 miles in the 9 months from new.

They told me to pop in and they will reset the counter, if I don't want to let it keep flashing up every time I start / stop the engine. Now

I've just logged onto TOPIX and note that the "view all vehicles details" page tells me that the PDI was indeed done on August 24th at 21 miles, but also that the next service due is actually November 24th or at 16,021 miles. Someone has obviously updated the central computer system but not the car. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

And just when that ones sorted out, another problem develops that means I need to book it into the dealer anyway! At least their shiny new just opened showroom is nearer to work so I could pop in and get it in the diary already. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Mine had its first service (and an oil change) at 6000 km (4000 miles). I do quite a lot of city driving which may influence the countdown which was very quick from the initial alert. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I had the same problem on the countdown to second service and was thus worried about oil dilution , so took it in to LR who reset the service counter , but then it goes up to 16000 miles again and so it's up to yourself to remember when it needs a service , not a problem but kind of defeats the object of a service reminder function .
