So I was on the m1 this morning with the CC set at 65 and I came to a gantry that was marked at 60.

The car put the brakes on- with no one in front of me! And slowed itself down to 60 and then carried on. Mind blown. I had no idea it did this?? Especially in a 2006? Noisy black one

This definitely doesn't happen on my 2012, if it can be enabled my mind will be blown also!

I was very suprised. My route into work (south from Watford into London) doesn’t have any gantrys so I’ve never noticed it before and I don’t generally use cruise control. Noisy black one

They dont as far as i am aware it only slows when it sees something in front if you have the radar system and when clear it speeds back to the original set speed

On a similar note.

When driving on the motorway I sometime see a newish car (something German) keep putting its brake lights on.
It doesn't appear to slow down. I think its the active cruise control detecting a car infront.

If it is. What a bloody stupid and alarming system from someone following. Hope the RRS don't do this

I assume it does put brake lights on as the active cruise really brakes hard if you get to close to a car in front

I love the adaptive cruise control, but it does occasionally slow down “accidentally” when detecting a car in another lane, especially if there’s a bend and the car is actually a lorry. The active cruise control scores rather poorly on the driving statistics compared to a human driver. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I quite like mine, I had a wagon swerve into my lane to miss a car that pulled out in front of him and the sport halved its speed in a milli second. Shocked me a bit at how quick it reacted. I also have the collision warning turned on and although it’s a little annoying at times it has alerted me on a couple of occasions when I’ve not been paying attention. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

yeah but it didn't appear to slow down significantly.

And the brakes didn't stay on for long.
and on frequently.

I wonder if they were being lazy and cancelling cruise with the brake pedal.
But it appear automatic to me.

Sure if the car needs to brake hard, then the lights should come on, but this appeared minor slowing and a pain to show lights
