United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

Got something ordered now (late 2015 HSE Dynamic in red) but it’s been a thoroughly painful experience. Nobody seemed that arsed when I had a px but as soon as I said it had gone (sold to first viewer), phone never stopped.

BMW are no better. Salesmen wouldn’t even speak to me about an x5 whilst I had my 335d. BMW finance have told him it’s been settled and now he’s suddenly interested. They need to spend more time on customer service and less time on the hard sell! Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

My guess is they don't want to take in another second hand vehicle as a p/x when they have back yards full of second hand vehicles. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Avoid the main stealers then and contact someone like Redline or Alexanders Prestige who have tons of top spec LR's and will do a deal in a heartbeat!.......

Is it advisable to buy from a non authorized dealer though as you lose the benefit of the two year LR warranty

If you go somewhere else you might get the car you want at a lower price. A warranty can be arranged through any number of other companies. So long as the car + 3rd party warranty is no more expensive than the LR car/warranty then what's the problem? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I agree the dealers simply don't want trade-ins, I was kindly offered £1500 less for mine than webuyanycar by Lancaster Burnham Shocked

Totally agree that the interest from dealers is woeful. I’ve visited the two branches of Taggarts (part of Lookers) in Glasgow over the last month. My wife and I spent about 45-60 mins in each, talking to the salesman about colours, options, delivery dates (largely fiction as it turns out...) and so on. On both occasions they gave me their card but let me walk out without asking for my name, thus ensuring they couldn’t follow up with me. I don’t actually mind that, as I hate being pestered, but they’re clearly not very bothered about making a sale. I then went back to one of them last weekend and wandered around for about 10-15mins to finalise colour choices (although I now find orders are suspended pending MY2019 so it was pointless) and no one even said hello. When you’re trying to spend a large sum on a new car, you definitely expect a bit more interest from them.

The dealership I went in to was Taggart’s Glasgow (North) and I confirm everything your say Haggisman - I did the same, wandered around, was not asked if I needed any help, ended up at the reception and asked to speak with somebody and the guy sat at his desk across the stairwell from the reception seemed surprised that somebody needed assistance............. BUT my experience with that shower has been the same for the last 19 years, just there isn’t a lot of choice in Glasgow. I used to buy my cars from Morrison’s at Bannockburn who were always helpful and friendly but when I was in there recently they have been taken over by Pentland/ John Clark Group and I only recognised one member of the sales team, I think the rest have left.
Now only 2-3 weeks until my new car is delivered so I won’t be too worried bout poor JLR service until I find I want to come back to LR after the Countryman - so far the Stirling Mini outlet has been brilliant at dealing with the delays in my order - BMW’s fault not the dealers. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim in Scotland - I’m sure BMW/Mini couldn’t be as bad as Taggarts LR who certainly make me question whether LR deserve my hard earned cash. That said, at times like that I always think of the scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts is ignored in a shop and then goes back, laden down with expensive shopping, to ask if the sales staff work on commission, then points at her purchases and tells them how big their mistake was in ignoring her. A bit more “sucking up” to well heeled RRS buyers wouldn’t be a bad thing for Taggarts to teach their staff, failing which some basic good manners!

Actually my experience of BMW dealers sales teams is just as bad and Mercedes Benz dealers were so bold as to tell me last year that I couldn’t afford one of their cars.................. yes that is their loss but I will never cross an MB dealership threshold again, especially as I parked my RRS at a window that was right in front of the salesman’s desk. I couldn’t believe that a salesman would be so arrogant to tell a customer that their products were too costly for me! I had similar treatment way back in 1996 at MB Glasgow and thought maybe over the 20 years things might have changed, but no they hadn’t. It’s not like i’m a spotty youth with unwashed clothes and hair maybe it’s because I don’t look like a Premier League footballer at 61 years old. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Reminds me of when I bought a BMW M3 in the 90's .

It was the first example they had received and I allowed them to put it in the showroom for a week until the new reg day came around.

I went in with my son at the weekend to show him and the "salesperson" working that day was obviously scornfully looking at my "old" clothes and decided I should not really be looking at it!

We messed with him for awhile then dropped into the conversation that it was my car!

He scurried off very quickly. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
