Advice on wheel corrosion

Just looking for some advice as to what can be done with my wheels as all four seem to have some sort of corrosion going on.
I have only ever used shampoo and water to clean them but about 4 weeks ago I noticed what looks like something getting the lacquer and starting to give the appearance of corrosion.
I have only had the car (MY2015) since last August so was wondering if the warranty might cover it? obviously I will ask the dealer but just wondered what peoples thoughts are.

Graham

Maybe the previous owner has been using an acid based cleaner like Wonder Wheels which does lift the lacquer if used a lot or left on too long.

Hi, this is what happened all four off my wheels. Replaced under warranty with no hassle also had the rear brake calipers done due to flaking paint.
Rich.

Thanks for the replies, never used wonder wheels or anything like that. Only had the car cleaned by someone else when it was at the dealers so it might have happened there but I didn't think they used anything but dirty water and a yard brush Laughing
Will have a trip over to dealer next week and see what they say. 2024 110 X Dynamic SE P400e

I’ve recently sold a 3 series that had diamond cut wheels. They are prone to corrosion but if it happened during the warranty period then bmw would replace them without question. Be interesting to see if JLR feel the same way. I think you should ask for them to be replaced and take it from there... Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Well I've been to dealer and initially all seemed good, yes covered under warranty by replacement Very Happy until I mentioned that it was the LR approved warranty as car is now 3 1/2 years old. Sudden change of answer, not covered as it will not cover cosmetic damage.
I then said I thought it was safety related being the wheels but again was told "not covered"
So now I am looking for somewhere near Clitheroe (or within about 25 miles) to repair them if anybody has any suggestions, I think it will be around £70-80 per wheel Big Cry
So the advice is to check yours and if under 3 years old get them done now.

My car was on an extended warranty and replaced no problems! Guy Salmon at Knutsford did it and I didn’t buy it from them. I would be asking some more questions as it can’t be one rule for one and not another. I would be fuming 😡 not as though they are cheap !

Dealers can be really inconsistent. I’d try another dealer, you never know.... Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY
