Hi, I have a my06 RRS the dipped beams are very poor and I have been advised that the xenon projectors need replacing I have seen these on the "web" Aharon EvoX-R 2.0 Bi-xenon projectors Hella design. Having contacted the company they tell me they only make them for right hand drive cars. My manual states I can change over from left to right hand drive with a lever, therefore could I fit right hand drive projectors and set them for left hand drive. Does anybody on the continent having a right hand drive car ever drive in the UK and if so are you able to change over your lights?

Hi Andy, probably not 140 euros a pair but they are supposed to be better and Ebay is always a risk.

How are they poor? Light output? Beam pattern? Beam projection down the road?
Who advised you to change the projectors?

Light output seems to be the problem, light direction looks OK. I find that I need to use the fog lights to allow reasonable speed in the dark otherwise when you change from main to dip you feel you need to reduce speed. I do a lot of country lane driving at about 50mph so its not as though I'm travelling too fast in the dark. This was the first thing I noticed when I first used the car so I "googled" the problem and various discussion forums suggested the projectors. Visually looking at the lights they look very "grey" not sure if that is right?

Do your headlights have that slightly blurred look? Mine are and it can't help.

Their are loads of threads on here about LED headlights (with adapters, etc.,) and they made a heck of a difference on my '07 car.

I'd try a set of decent bulbs first. Could just be that they're getting past their best. I found moving to Osram Xenarc Nightbreakers made a difference to the dipped performance. Also be worth checking the height of the beam as a small adjustment can make a huge difference to the length of the beam on the road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The RRS (prefacelift) had excellent headlights so I'd be surprised if it's the projector units. Not sure I've heard of anyone on here having that as an issue.

It would be worth parking in 10 yards front of a wall and checking the beam pattern. If they are set too low or too high you'll get poor mid-range illumination.

I have in the past parked in a dark, quiet lane and adjusted the beams to get them right. Set correctly, the headlights are excellent. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As an update, finally replaced the lamps and also scoured and polished the headlight plastic covers. Overall not a huge difference but it is brighter. I have however come to the conclusion that the real problem is that the change from main to dip is so large that I feel the dips are poor when in fact they are reasonably good.
