2011 RRS Brake Hose replacement interval

Morning everyone. Just a question on the recommended interval for replacing brake hoses. The car's in for it's annual service it's a 2011 model HSE with 32k miles. The dealer mentions that LR recommends that hoses be replaced every six years regardless of use. It's a pricey job at just shy of £800 so I wanted to double check with the collective wisdom of the group as to whether this actually needs to be done. Not begrudging spending the money on a safety issue but just wanted to be sure first!

Thanks! 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Hmmm.... Given the hoses themselves are less than £20 each I suspect a bit of up selling might be going on! 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

LR does have flexible brake hose change at 6 years in the service schedule so the dealer is just following LR's recommendations. As for the high cost, well that is why some people don't use main dealers unless they have no choice. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks RRSTDV8! That's good to know. To be fair to the dealer they did specify it was a LR advisory, not a requirement, but it's nice to have it confirmed before deciding what to do. Cheers! 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Sorry to hear about your troubles scousefly. As has been mentioned many times they're wonderful vehicles when they work but an ownership nightmare when things go wrong. One fault we're currently having fixed is a leaking sump gasket. It's been leaking since the sump was taken off to fix a leaking front crank seal.......... Thank god for the warranty! Just out of interest what's the mileage on your 2011? 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

at 32K miles I wouldn't be changing them.

or you could just change the fronts in the future if it really worries you.

After nearly 40 in the motor trade I’ve only ever seen a handful of flexi brake pipes that need changing. I’d leave alone unless high lighted on an MOT 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

2018 Discovery 5 HSE lux current

Done 63K now. In other news took out 2 5a fuses that appear to be either for the alarm or sensors as its hard to tell from diagram and the sensors now all work, bad news is there's a thin red wire hanging loose and I think this is the power supply to my dashcam which has now stopped working, I don't know where it came from so back to installer Big Cry Big Cry

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! It passed the MOT with no probs so I think I'll lay off replacing the hoses for now. Scousefly I really hope they sort out the electrical hassles and you can go back to enjoying the vehicle! 2011 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
