3.9apr is achievable thru main dealers but since there a PLC they claim this is not possible! Or at least this is what they claim when I try to buy a new a new 5ltr sc, simply pathetic!

Go thru anyone other than a JLR dealer this way eventually they may change their attitude. MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

A high GFV is good for the customer - it takes the risk away from you and you get a nice low monthly payment.

If the GFV is too high the finance company risk getting lots of cars handed back.

Is that right though? Surely as a customer you'd want a lower GFV so there is more chance of equity come the end of the initial term?

I get what you're saying but no one outside of Rockar are going anywhere near 4.9% let alone 3.9%!

Chap on another thread was offered 4.5% from a popular dealership for a brand new SVR, that is the best I've read or heard of.

Popular car finance companies seem to be competitive for pre-owned by the sound of things but not when it comes to new vehicles.

I should clarify that via listers I got 3.9% using black horse for my sc so it can be done, but of course this time around the same old bs is spouted about how their not allowed to offer it really and they could be trouble blah blah!

On principle I won't be buying from them again as loyalty should work both ways and not just when it suits them.

The whole thing about buying these cars is nowadays so impersonal and not very satisfying anymore, I'm not surprised people turn to alternative sources to get cars other than dealer's. MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

Right, narrowed it down to two options now so pros and cons would be appreciated please by those with experience of these things (in both cases deposit would be around Β£19K inc p/ex):

A) A MY16 SVR, 16K on the clock, 2 years Used Approved with good options, Β£79K.

On a two year PCP at 6% APR it comes in at Β£650 per month with a GFV of Β£52K.

On a three year PCP at 6% APR it comes in at Β£725 per month with a GFV of Β£44K.

B) A brand new one, 0 miles on the clock, 3 years LR Warranty with good options, Β£101K (discounted from Β£105K).

On a two year PCP at 4.9% it comes in at Β£920 per month with GFV of Β£67K.

On a three year PCP at 4.9% it comes in at Β£860 per month with a GFV of Β£61K.

I know ultimately the final decision lies with me and (believe it or not) usually I'm quite a decisive person but this has got me in a bit of a quandary; I'm new to PCPs etc. so really could do with some guidance and currently veering towards brand new because residuals are very strong.

I've ignored other related costs to not muddy the waters, just sticking to the above to try and keep it simple.

Of course by the time either of the above come to the end of 2/3 years the new model will be on the horizon ... Rolling Eyes

Its a brainer.

Bottom line it will cost you a fair bit more over the term to drive the latest and greatest.

If I wanted equity I'd rather I put Β£100 a month away in my own bank account than pay it to the finance company and (hope to) get it back later.

I think that most customers want the lowest monthly cost possible without having to stump up a massive deposit. Pretty much like a lease. In fact the difference between lease and PCP is a pretty fine line as it appears that most lease companies allow you to buy the car at the end of the deal if you want to anyway. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

A higher gfv is what you want always as syl has said, a lower gfv only serves to empty your wallet sooner only to find out at the end of term your not so buoyant with equity! MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

Agree with above.

Jlr dealers try to sell you the equity argument because they can’t match audi and bmw Apr rates. It’s s fallacy really because you still pay the same but sooner. On top of that you get the crappy Apr.

If a car is overvalued at the end and you still want it. Buy another of same spec somewhere else. You can then even buy a diff spec based on lessons from the first one.

Jlr need their own finance company. I suggested this to a salesman the other day and he said they don’t want too many cars on the road so they remain exclusive. I nearly burst out laughing .....

Cheers all for your input, this is much appreciated. I'm not stupid with numbers or calculations but variables such as GFV and the impact that has on payments etc is new for me so learning all the time!
