A little help please

Hi,

I've just posted a hello on the "welcome to..." thread.

I've a HSE Dynamic on order which will be my first Range Rover and am coming from BMW.

My questions concern Incontrol Services (apologies if I've posted in the wrong secton). BMW's iDrive have a built in SIM but I understand I need to insert my own SIM for Incontrol.

My questions are;

- Will a dual sim from my existing phone contract work or do I need a separate dedicated 4G data sim.
- My commute is Manchester to Liverpool so any one who knows the area will feel my daily pain !! I average 3/4 hours per day and have a choice of four different routes so the 'real time traffic' works hard. Does anyone know whether this usage will eat much data.
- BMW's iDrive is reasonably accurate and I've learnt it's few foibles e.g. it'll sometimes try to route me through the centre of Manchester and I only take this if it reports a saving over 1/2 an hour. Can anyone say how accurate the Incontrol is.

Thank you in advance.
Phil

There is a built in SIM for incontrol.

You can put your own data SIM in for SatNav traffic updates, satellite view and in-car WiFi. I got a 12 month pre-paid EE data SIM from EBay. You'll need under 512MB/month for traffic. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Hi Phil, I have a three network 12 month 12gb preloaded data sim. Cost about £25 from Argos. I've only had it for a couple of months but seems to be using less than 1gb pm for both live traffic and satalite view in the Sat Nav. 2017my RRS 2.0 SD4 HSE, Firenze red, black and panaroof

Bit late to see this but there is now a 24GB 24 month 3 SIM available from 7DayShop for around £43 which would be ideal for your requirements and great value!
