Maybe 10 miles a day. Will a RRS give me grief

Am thinking about getting back into what will be my third sport. Only difference is that I will now only do circa 10 miles a day if that!

Will the fact that it’s a diesel give me cause for concern.

Thanks

No but take it for a thrashing every now and again, especially if it has a DPF

You didn't say what year you were thinking of, but mine is a 2010 and I specifically wanted one without a DPF as I don't do average mileage. I'm not sure what MY all had them fitted, no doubt someone on here will be able to help.

With that sort of mileage I’d seriously consider petrol. Your fuel costs for 3650 miles per year won’t be much different petrol or diesel and the extra fun you’ll get from the oomph might worth it. Robin

Haha - I can understand that Andy. I don't need much of an excuse to go out in mine and its "only" the TDV8. I'm sure if I had an SC I'd be out in it a lot more and I'd make the occasional full use of the loud pedal just because its there. Very Happy

Just done a quick calculation (someone get a mathematician to check this), and assuming £1.18 for petrol and £1.25 for diesel, 3650 miles using petrol would cost £287.13 and using diesel would cost £182.50. A difference of £104.63! So for the loss of one good meal out for you and the good lady you could have a year of extra fun in your RRS. And she can come to!! Rolling with laughter Robin

I think you’ve got the figure slightly wrong their Eaters,,I wish I could get 3650 miles with £287.13 of petrol,,just have a look at Fuelly on my profile,,Ive done 2513 mile in mine since I’ve had it & it’s cost me £961.44 Laughing Laughing

I make the figures a little different

Petrol avg price per gallon £5
Avg MPG 15.6
3650 /15.6 = 233 gallons @ £5 = £1169.

Diesel Avg price gallon Diesel £5.67
Avg MPG 27
3650 / 27 = 135 gallons @ £5.67 = £766.

That's £403 Thumbs Up

More than a meal - again you may need to check my maths Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Ah - it helps not to mix price per litre with miles per gallon!

Just checking you guys were awake Shocked Smile Laughing

So getting my figures into the same units, I get a difference of £475.56 more for petrol. And as you say Peachy, that's quite a good night out Laughing Robin

Do 10 miles per day in a V8 petrol from cold and you'll be lucky to see 10-12mpg -especially if you use the loud pedal (and if you don't why not!).

Same mileage in TDV8 might give you 25mpg so obviously you'll use over twice the amount of fuel in the V8 petrol. Although diesel is about 10% more expensive so your fuel bill in the TDV8 will still be almost half.

You buy a petrol V8 shed for the grin factor not economy !!!
