Petrol Particulate Filters coming?

Have been reading on another forum that certain BMW petrol engines in hybrids and EV’s with petrol engine generators (i3 and iCool will be only be available with a PPF as of this month - I wonder if this piece of tech that is meant to reduce emissions particulates of Vehicle mainly marketed to those bi]uyingbthem to drive in town is what is delaying the RRS PHEV? I appreciate that the 2.0Ingenium engine isn’t a BMW developed engine but if BMW is doing it it won’t be long before other makers follow suit to get around Low Emission Zone regulations in cities. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Allegedly they're being fitted to the 4 cylinder petrols in the new BMW X3s for European markets. Claims are that they need to be fitted to ensure the emissions are low enough on the new way of measuring.
