You need the additional sim to operate the WiFi hotspot in your car & the traffic updates etc on the nav system, at least that’s what now works on my AB now the wiring fault has been repaired. Mine is a my17 would think the my18 would be similar?

Yes but I don’t think you can get data only, I’ve got 2gb a month data, free mins & texts that I can’t use, but it’s only £5 a month!

Just be aware that if you use an iPod/iPhone and this is connected to the car WiFi and set up automatically update when plugged in, it will!

If i get that SIM that Jim posted does that have a monthly fee ? Really i need pay as you go as like i said it's only for the cars needs, also do these SIMs have a number, i.e can the car have its own phone number ?

There is no fee, just buy fit and forget. No need to register it, it will just work.

It has a phone number but is of no value in the car as you cannot call it.

Mine has been in my car for just over a year and is still working!!

My plan is to just buy a new one every 12 months.

Even works in Europe at no additional cost.
