Tow Bar Electrics - Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
I am considering fitting a tow bar and electrics to my 2013 L320 RRS. At present I don't own either a trailer or a caravan but want the option to hire either in the future at short notice and know that I have the tow bar and correct electrics in place to do so.
I have been researching the Land Rover tow bar electrics kits and see that there is either a twin 12N & 12S 7 pin kit or a single 13 Euro pin kit.
My question is, which of these two kits would give me the widest towing electrics capability, acknowledging that you can get plug-in adapters?
Thanks Thumbs Up
Steve

I have the 12N & S fitted but will probably change to 13 pin.

I've a caravan with 12N & S plugs and IFW trailer with 13pin plug so have to use adaptors, and I can say that the 12N & S on car to 13pin Y type adaptor snags with the trailer hitch so I have to use the type of adaptor converting the trailer 13 pin to 12N only, which is fine with trailer as all I lose is reverse light (possibly not legal as all lights fitted should work). I reckon a 13 pin on RRS to 12N & S wouldn't snag as it could be run like one cable (although I'd change the caravan to 13 pin).

Also I think all future caravans or trailers etc. are likely to have 13 pin.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the reply, this is just the sort of practical advice I was looking for Thumbs Up Looks like the way to go is a 13 pin socket with the use of an adapter plug if and when required.

Regards,

Steve
