Not sure if this thread is actually hilarious or scary! Censored ridiculous this is! As others have said you guys need to reject the cars as if you all keep on putting up with this substandard quality JLR get away with it!! Jonathans smoke looks like a cracked coolant tank as its leaking below the car too!? Keep an eye out for the temperature gauge mate!

Didn't smell like coolant, think it was oil or diesel it's been flat bedded to the dealer now where I will be first thing tomorrow morning to see what they propose.

Ok mate...from the video ot seems something is leaking under the car. If the coolant spills on to the engine area it would create smoke like this as had similar on a previously owned Maserari. Good luck anyway I feel for you pal.

Ah hadn't seen that before, i think that was there before, when it was up on the flat bed could see the underside was dry so not sure what could be.

Thanks, its gutting tbh, it's my dream car, have wanted one for a long time and been waiting patiently since I ordered it, was already a bit annoyed with the other issues but this is something else.

Germany

Hi all,

new to the forum and stumbled across this thread given little feedback so far for German owners. Thanks a lot for all the feedback so far.

Whilst I come from years of Audi (Q7 and A6 with both 300+ bhp) I really liked the Velar but as the trunk wasn’t suitable for a dog cage ended up with a RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6. The driving and seating comfort is superior to Audi in my view. So far ca. 4k km and no issues, the car runs smoothly and has enough power when needed. And - its definitely a beauty from the outside!

BUT - All I’ve read so far tells me I am not alone with...
- left steering wheel control sluggishness and occasional failure (especially when its really cold outside) - I suppose it has to do with the added functions of the underlying sensors compared to the one on the right?
- poor solution for mobile phones - I am only using Bt now given too many issues with incontrol
- System turning itself to English language on its own
- wing mirror lights function as ‘lucky draw’
- SatNav -no voice audible, even if volume is manually incresed during media pause when the system supposingly tells you what to do
- twice when parking and manually switching to 360degree view I suddenly had an internal software page showing up on the upper InControl touch screen

Annoying things but probably not fixable:
- sceen doesn’t dim when in tunnel (or headlights come on for that matter) and light up the entire car when you actually need a dark environment - we have the Alps at our doorstep and there are a few
- I can’t see the full list of songs in an album that’s being played (cable or BT -it makes no difference) despite the manual saying I should press on the song name in the InControl touch pad; one could use forward/back - but then the steering wheel control would be essential to work.... which it does not

My car has been to the dealer, latest software applied (after 2weeks of owning it - tells me this is far from well tested) and things are still all over the place. Waiting for a replacement for the left steering wheel control - to come this week I was told.

What strikes me - and this might be dealer specific - how few they know about the software issues etc. -they sell the Velar as well and must have had similar issues, but I still feel like I am beta testing a software that costs well above 100k! Btw - this is not a PC where I press reset or restart when its running and hangs up - its just a no go for me having to restart my car for things to disappear. And to be frank, even if the media software worked it feels years behind what others offer - I mean you get a Fiat500 with full CarPlay integration. At the prace tag of a RRS license fees can’t and shouldn’t be the issue.

If the replacement for the steering wheel conrol doesn’t work either, the conversation witht the dealer won’t be pretty.

Dapite all the above, I haven’t lost faith. But I am about to to be frank.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Letter of complaint now sent to Grant McPherson, Director of Quality & Automotive Safety, at JLR, regarding the quality issues with my 2018MY Sport.

Not holding my breath but felt better after the rant....

Car now booked in again for suspension issue. Have been told that replacement seat covers are on 'back order'.

Has anybody had any problems getting a sim card to work with their MY18? I won't use much data so bought a Sky SIM for it and installed is as per instructions. When I go into settings it recognises the network provider as Sky but it will not connect. I just get the 3 dots indicating "connecting". I have left it in and been for a 20 min drive but it still will not connect.

Tried the sim from my phone and ipad and I get the same. It recognises the network provider but will not connect.

I have connected my car by using my phone as a hotspot and that was fine.

Can anybody please help or shed any light?

Thanks

Hi Jas from memory you may want to access the actual cars router admin page via the IP address, as when we last used it we had to increase the data limit as it was set to something silly like 10mb and set to not work after 24 hours or something silly, so you can go in and set it up so it will work correctly etc Current

Hi I am looking to take delivery of the Rrs in the next few weeks. Have these issues been rectified yet? Or are you guys still suffering? Would hate to take on a headache

Blimey you all seem so calm with the issues you are having here. Having spent £85k on a car I would expect it to work as intended and not have to make forum posts about issues with my car! If you all make some noise about this and not expect to live with it then things may just improve for JLR! Not sure how RE66ELL can say the car is better than the MY17 when plagued with so many issues!!! Bow down

I rejected my MY18 due to the following:
1) Steering wheel buttons on the left not responding as expected
2) Suspension Failure - parts not available for 5 weeks
3) Brake squeeling noises after just 300 miles!
4) Speedo screen would go blank and flicker when driving - very dangerous and distracting too
5) Lower screen would go off or freeze.
6) Leather on seats as others said was laggy.

Seriously guys please make a fuss about this with your dealers and not expect to live with it! I would love to buy another one when and if they ever sort out these issues but I don't think they will as my brother has a Velar and he tells me that over on the Velar forums it's a similar story - every one is having issues and many are rejecting their cars

A COMPLETE MESS BY JLR Censored

Hi mate,

How did you go on about rejecting your car as I have an SVR which is 2 weeks old today and has the following problems.

1) Boot lid not correctly alligned
2) Rear bumper not correctly alligned
3) Wheel arch extensions not correctly allighned
4) Temeperature dial keeps reverting back to display the heated seat setting
5) Today the upper screen has packed up and is completely off and unresponsive
6) Alloy wheel chipped by the factory when levering the tire on to the rim

Thanks 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR arrived but now rejected!
2019 Range Rover Sport SVR in Madagascar orange arrived but never heard it coming but now rejected!

For crying out loud!!

Lee, have LR or your dealer not acknowledged the problems and tried to rectify!

I feel almost embarrassed about having a trouble free SVR apart from the couple of minor leather upholstery issues that LR have already agreed to fix Embarassed
