2014 HSE Dynamic Handbrake and rear tail gate problems

Hi Guys.

Got a few little issues with my 2014 HSE Dynamic. Are these common issues .........

My rear boot won't open from the button in the front or from outside the car with the tailgate button but on occasion it does !! Hit and miss really ! You can hear it trying to do something but nothing happens but another time it will open !!

Also my handbrake won't come on when i push the button !! No light appears on the dash either ! I have not used her for about 4 weeks now as I'm keeping her out of the rubbish weather, now this has stopped working !!! It still has park obviously so not a issue.

I have the extended warranty for another 1 1/2 years thank God and have it booked in on the 7th march for this work but just wondered if anybody else has had these issues and if there is a fix especially with the handbrake ??

Thanks.

Tom.

Firstly sorry no experience of these precise issues however my thoughts for what they’re worth

Regarding the boot, as you can hear something it sounds like the catch is not aligning properly. I had an issue last year where my boot wouldn’t open. The lock was stuck halfway between open and closed. If you look online it’ll say start cutting panels about to get to the catch. But my Indie persevered with some dexterous use of coat hangers and such and managed to get to it withou panel cutting.

Regarding handbrake, my guess is it’s gunged up and will need dismantling and cleaning. However is there a fuse for it? Might be worth a check. Robin

As for the boot not opening,is the battery fully charged as mine sometimes doesn’t open if battery isn’t fully charged,,try the boot with the engine running,if you already have done then I haven’t a clue.

Hi guys.

Little update. Took my sport out for a run yesterday as it was finally a lovely sunny day. Once we went about 20miles i checked everything and all was ok. Handbrake and rear tailgate works perfectly. I guess leaving her for around 4 weeks not using her as she was all polished up she didn't like it. I never started her so the batteries must if went a bit low. It did say yesterday on the TFT dash about starting the engine as the batteries are low !!!

I guess the Aux battery went low but the starting battery takes most if the charge first being more crucial, then the aux battery gets charged. I guess they charge together but the start battery gets more if needed.

Either way still going to get landrover to check her over but pleased she is all good.

Thanks for the help guys.

Tom.
