Headlight not leveling

So my headlights will work fine and go up and down and left and right as should do. Then later on I could again come out and start up and the passenger headlight will be pointing down and not raise. Not every time though. Any ideas? 2008 HST TDV8 in Stornoway Grey.

It is the ghost in the system.

Mine does this now and again. I have tried all sorts, and have not found the problem.

Generally, if I just leave it alone for a few hours, when I start up again, it works perfectly.

I have a theory that the computer that controls that light is crashing, and needs time before it is reset.

I have noticed that this happens most often after I have use the IID tool to change any settings (service interval, or such)

I might be wrong though!!

The light is actually performing as designed, ironically! It points low if it doesn't know where it's actually pointing (if that makes sense). It's designed to do this to prevent it from glaring oncoming traffic if there's a chance it's stuck pointing sideways.

Sadly the only cure appears to be a new headlight. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
