Today after dealing with Carlie at the Thatcham branch I renewed 2 policies, one of which was on the Range Rover Sport.

Carlie was very professional and a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, made contact when promised and all done at an exceptional price, with all modifications declared on the Sport for another year.

For anyone looking to insure or renew I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her to fellow forum members, and remember these forum rates can only be done via the Thatcham branch of Aplan.

Good to see more praise for the forum sponsor. They gave great service when I renewed last year and the quote was by far, unbeatable. Not just the price, but other things like the Euro cover, the low excesses and off road cover. Hopefully this years renewal will be equally attractive.

I did try them for mine but not with carly and they were about £160 dearer for a like for like policy

My insurance is up for renewal next week, so last week I got a quote with my local A-Plan branch in London, they got nowhere near the comparison sites or my renewal price, then today after reading the above I specifically tried the Thatcham branch.

Carlie wasn’t available when I called but a good chap called Richard took all my details and then called me back with a best price I’ve had so far, with less excess and off-road cover included.

Odd that a different branch of the same company managed to achieve such a wildly different price, I’m not complaining though, maybe it was the site discount!

These reason you will get the better option at Thatcham is because we have specialist 4x4, classic, modified etc policies, your local branch will do standard policies that don't have the off-road cover either. As we are on the forums as well it means you get the club discounts that we have facilities for too.

Good to know forum sponsor can help some members. I've been trying A-Plan since they came onboard the forum but unfortunately always been quoted very uncompetitive premiums. I've always tried the "correct" branch (which used to be Bletchley and now Thatcham) and mentioned the forum on every occasion. Clean license, no claims ever (so should get the biggest NCD), not living in a particularly dodgy area (I think!), not a youngster (sadly) but none of this helped. This is after they take my details, apparently ring around for prices and come back to me after a couple of days, only to disappoint me in the end

I would pay (and have paid other insurers) a couple of hundred more for better cover and quality of service but can't justify ~50% more. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

fkarim it's a shame to hear we couldn't help you unfortunately we can't help everyone and there's a lot of factors influencing insurance rates such as whether its kept garaged or on the drive, post code, annual mileage etc. It is worth having a look at renewal each year as we are developing new schemes with insurers all the time so may be more competitive next time around.
