It could also be a faulty sensor loom. The loom runs across the rear bumper clipped to the bumper cover and can chafe. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ignition on but don't start car.

Put into reverse then put your ear to each of the sensors. Working ones will emit a ticking sound and the faulty one will be silent

I had the same and thought it was a faulty sensor but turned out to be broken loom behind bumper skin. Soldered and heat shrinked the repair and no more issue Thumbs Up TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

you can get them on ebay for £10

still could be a wire if that doesn't fix it.

You need to remove bumper skin, did you find the how to for that ?

Its worth checking the wiring first if you haven't already ordered a new sensor by swapping one of the working sensors into loom position of suspected faulty one to check if the fault moves or stays TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten
