Take the course . It’s a no brainer.

Having been recently stopped for a mobile phone offence , I await my summons and I think it’s 6 points now. I d gladly take a course but they don’t offer one for stupidly touching your phone whilst passing a police car 😒

Others have mentioned what’s a couple of mph here and there, I can see both sides to it, having been on scene to rtas, a couple of mph really can make the difference . Where do the authorities draw the line?! 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR

defo take the course. if it avoids points on your license, its a no brainer in my eyes

the courses are not that bad, its not just 4 hrs of listening to someone drone on about have bad it is speeding.

its quite an informative course & a bit of an open forum..... plus you get free tea & biscuits!

ive done it twice so far

also, if you took the points and then get caught again, and your not offerred the SWC, you would end up with 6 points your license which would defo not be great for insurance

Yes but speedometers only have to be within 10% accurate at 30MPH and generally over-read so the speedo was probably showing 38 or so MPH to be caught at an accurate 36 if you understand what I'm trying to say. That means that Hutch was travelling at nearly 40MPH in a 30 limit according to their speedometer.

Without sounding dramatic, and from experience of being on scene of RTC's, I agree with James5599 that a few MPH can make a big difference to the outcome of pedestrian injuries.

Take the awareness course with an open mind. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

I agree with Rushben,

if your speedo was reading 40mph in a 30 limit, then you deserve everything you get!
Take the course, you might actually learn something, it might even prevent you killing or seriously injuring someone in the future.
If you're wondering about my apparent anger over this, my cousin was hit but some speeding cock jockey with an attitude in a 30 limit many years ago. Over 35 years on, and she is still in a wheelchair, and still living with her parents who she is 90% dependent on.
Still thin it's clever to speed in a 30 limit? You can't see the eyes of the demon until him come callin'

36mph means about 40% more kinetic energy in the vehicle than.at 30mph. As brakes convert energy linearly, that means a large increase in braking distance or you hit the pedestrian at higher speed from the same braking point.

Physics doesn't care what you think about speed limits. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I'd pick the course every time, have done 2 over the years.

(In between I did get 3 points too for an SP30 however IIRC the insurers only added a few quid to the premium)

They aren't too bad, both were local and the persons running them quite good + as mentioned by many others free tea and biscuits
