There was also a new 18 (white) svr in stock (that arrived yesterday) that they showed me.
Sorry to say (& please don't think that I am saying this just because of today's little purchase) that I didn't like it one bit!
In the flesh the wheels are horrid, the exhausts are poor & the side vents look non descript, side on it could easily be a base model. Even the bonnet that I thought would be a wow was a disappointment!
Couldn't see inside properly because of all the covers but no way will the seat designs be anything like as nice as the current ones.
I know that everything is personal but I am 'doubly delighted' today; a) Because of my purchase & b) Because I resisted the urge to order the new one, there's no comparison. My plan now is to wait until the brand new model arrives, hopefully that will be worth the change!

Interesting about your thoughts on the new one as opposed to the old. I'm not too sure about the seats. I loved the old ones. Anyway, will let you know when I get mine

I was that smitten, I went on a road trip.

Thank god, i did because the day I got back it went back to the dealer and I haven't seen it since (13th July 17)

Personal opinion indeed but the MY18 changes make an MY17 car completely dated IMHO. Carry on pleasung yourself though as it’s your money and choice

I just hope it works for you as intended as my experience has been a disaster.

Hating design change is nothing new. I've seen it for so many years on different car forums. Everyone hates a new version of a model for a few months because they're so used to an old design that feels natural and comfortable. I'm a designer myself so I see this a lot with my own work. Look at when Apple releases a new OS, phone or there is a new Facebook etc. Outrage followed by acceptance, then love, and then the cycle is repeated with the next version.

Personally, I've scoured the internet looking at photos of SVR's to help decide on colour (e.g. autogespot) and have been looking at the 2018 SVR press shots and auto show videos a lot. The front of the old SVR looks so outdated to me already and I love that the lower rear bumper is now body colour and to me is a big improvement. There is no way the new seats will be worse or LR really doesn't know what they're doing. But I agree design is ALL opinion and personal preferences.
