Should I buy a new Range Sport?

Hello,

I currently have a 2010 range sport V8SC that I bought used at 30’000km.

I am contemplating the purchase of a new sport V8SC:

I tried to rationalize this purchase, here are the cons and pros I found:

Cons:
1. Very expensive, about 150k euro!
2. I feel that the quality has decreased compared to the previous version (bad woods, plastic chrome, fake vent, etcj
3. Not more silent than previous (I put my compared recordings on YouTube https://youtu.be/gsZ__1FS4k8)
4. Yet unsure how it compares to previous one regarding breaking distances on snow
5. 6 cm larger

Pros:
1. Hud, radar cruise, 360, dab, assisted closing doors
2. Looks more modern
3. Better smell...(seems previous owner smoked in mine)
4. More agile (suspension, chassis, 1s less for 0-100)

Please I would appreciate your thoughts about other pros and cons to help me decide!

Sorry but there’s no comparison with the quality of the old model... the new model is much much better

You can’t compare spooky, i’d go as far to (respectively) say that your name on here perfectly sums up your current car Very Happy

You missed out tgat the 494 is on a completely new platform, not the discovery platform, (which, the latest disco us now on lol) so, lighter and better sourced on tge road Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

Thanks for the answer Cool
Actually, I put the new platform in the Pros as "More agile" (not sure one can actually this word for a car Smile what I meant is "more dynamic"). I tested drive one for 3 days, and this is indeed something you can really feel.

To be brutally honest I would say “No. Not at the moment”

Land Rover appear to be going through a terrible quality control period with many L494 owners having unacceptable problems with their cars.

Maybe hold off for a couple of years?

They are the best 4x4 out there and by far the nicest drive and that's why we keep buying them, just expect to live with issues as they all have them, some much worse than others! MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

My 2015 has had no issues at all. It still makes you feel special driving it. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Seen as they only make what customers have ordered, how can they slow production, unless the orders have slowed. BBC dramatising I'm afraid. 2012 RRS SDV6

Reducing the daily production hours by cutting down on shifts would be one way.

I still don't get it. Customer orders, they make that car to order. If the orders were still coming in why would they cut hours to make less cars? It's not like they're going to turn orders away. I think it's more likely a case of less orders. 2012 RRS SDV6
