I would just stick with your supermarket stuff, i’ve Run my SDv6 for nearly 3 years on mostly Sainsbury’s ULS Diesel with no apparrant problems but a big saving to my bank account! Where I live we have a difference of 5p a litre ( even more if you use the alleged better “super” diesel) between supermarket diesel and the same branded stuff from the majors forecourts. Often the fuel on the branded forecourts comes from the same refinery as the supermarket stuff, remember, supermarket fuel is often a loss leader just to get you into their shops. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I decided recently that it would do no harm to occasionally add a fuel additive (I chose Wynns) to help keep everything a bit cleaner. I have some concerns about the turbos (and injectors??) and anything I can do to delay the need to replace them (I am on 72,000 miles) I thought worthwhile. But at £10 - £16 per pot these additives aren't cheap. And a quick calculation tells you that, even at 10 per litre more expensive, buying a tankful of super diesel (say 70 litres) is £7 a time extra. That's about half the price of the additive. So I now occasionally fill up with the special fuel Esso or BP normally, rather than use the Wynns. Robin

The only non supermarket fuel that has gone into my car is Shell standard diesel from their Lancaster north filling station which is 5 minutes drive off the M6 junction 34 or the Esso station at Gaydon Village just off the M40 which is also just off the motorway and both are 20-25p cheaper than fueling up on the nearby motorway service area. I have used Wynns diesel additive in my Defender but haven’t seen much benefit from it as I don’t do more than 1000 miles a YEAR in it so running 4-5mtankfuls with additive through the system takes for ever. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sainsburys or BP standard for me, but only as they are convenient. I don't care really. I have never, ever, in 30 years driving, had any fuel related issue over cars or vans of all shapes and size. This includes 3 years nearly in the RRS. I do between 12 and 15k miles a year. Once every three months a shot of Wynns xtreme (7 quid a bottle) and 100ml a full tank of Millers. Drives as smooth as you like and with a 300bhp Alive remap it is a quick car when needs be. No DPF lights, performance issues, anything.
