Just got back from hols to hear my 5th Jan date has slipped - the vehicle is with Special Vehicle Operations apparently - I ordered Balmoral Blue so upgraded paint.

I reckon another two weeks yet before it's on the drive.

I believe bodies are shipped (Oxford Road) to be painted and are then assembled there too.

I thought that was the case too Phil and irrespective of special colour or otherwise, they are all shipped to Oxford Road for "Magic Dust!"

They must be shipped as bare body shells to be painted in special colours but do they really then collect all the parts to build the car and then hand
Timassemble it off the production line? Surly they are painted off site and then the shell is returned to the production line for assembly. They can then be taken away for final fettling.

Yes. That was before Oxford Road was open. I assume standard cars are still built on the line- only special paint has to be painted at Oxford Road.

Well........6 weeks after the confirmed build date my car is still being scrutinised by LR because I ordered special paint. I wanted a dark blue so had to order special paint to get it. The excuse for not delivering is becoming a little tiresome as there is only so much time you can spend checking paintwork. I'm all for quality control and doing a good job - but seriously - six weeks....??

Needless to say - if there is the slightest imperfection in the paint when it eventually arrives there will be Hell to Pay!

I was told by one dealer that there wasn't going to be any special paints delivered until after April. You wonder at times what to believe?

2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Santorini Black

Sounds familiar. I was told today that they won't even accept my order with an SVO paint. I was asked if I would be ok with choosing a standard color instead. Disappointing to say the least. I can sort of understand a delay due to high demand but not taking an order for paint colours offered on the configurator is just lame.
