Petrol engines are more robust.

There's nothing wrong with the 2.7TDV6 so long as you don't want performance. It's a bit under powered for a vehicle weighing 2.5-3 tonnes. Having said that, plenty of people use them for towing and are happy with them.

I bought (imported) a 2005 2.7 diesel in April this year and I love it. It had low mileage and had been sat still a long time. I splashed out and gave it a major service last month as I'm taking it with me to Portugal for good in a few weeks. Everything on the car works as it should. I simply love it and the help and advice on this site is great. Barrie.

My 2007 2.7 TDV6 has been very good and reliable, just touching 150k now, of which I've put on just under 60k. Serviced annually according to schedule.

We bought ours in May 1 owner with 36k and FLRSH. We're completely satisfied with, decent amount of torque and I use ours everyday. It's got everything we'd want and it's not thirsty at all. Everything works and the only fault I've had was by a 3rd party. I wouldn't disregard a 2.7 over a 3.0 but think more down to the car you're looking at.

Fantastic car and purchased in July on a 2008 plate. Have owned shoguns , land cruisers Mercedes ml etc and it’s the by far the best car I have owned. Have towed into France and it was faultless |

I had one for 3 years from 09 -12, no problems, performance was fine. The 2.7 is very smooth. Don’t discount it if you find a nice car. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Isn't the 2.7 also prone to breaking its crank? --

I test drove one, didn't feel that engine was appropriate for something with a badge saying 'Sport'. It actually felt dangerously slow pulling onto the dual carriageway on the test drive route. |

My 2005 TDV6 HSE has had egr's blanked and a remap and it is plenty quick enough for me. |

This Performance is adequate, but really should have had the 220bhp a remap gives, from the factory |
