It's fairly normal that the brake fluid change is an extra when I used to take my jag to the dealer.

When my 14 went in for its 3 year service they said it needed brake fluid changing,,I told them not to bother & when I got back home I checked it & it was in the green on my tester,so nothing wrong with it.

No brake fluid changes included on a Land Rover service plan?

You should check the terms and conditions on the service plan. I can't find the complete document online but the Land Rover website blurb says Service Plans cover the cost of ALL SCHEDULED SERVICING. If the service schedule requires a brake fluid change then it's black and white; the cost should be covered by the plan. Go on - kick up a fuss - you have been ripped off. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE |

After reading this post I decided I wasn't having it, emailed my dealer and got an answer for you.

Is this the same for non service plan services, where I'd expect if it is on LR's 'to do' list then it would be done as part of that service? Or do dealers get to cherry pick what they want to do according to the price payed? And on this I'd be expecting that fluids whether brake fluid or oils were covered within the service price?

Extract from Service/Maintenance Sheet, note item No.9 asterisk get out clause. It's also stated in the Service History Book, this is for a RRS1 not sure about RRS2.

Just waiting for the day when they say that oil is a wear and tear item and therefore not part of the service plan. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

Why do people insist on using LR dealerships for servicing? The plans are obviously a con as they work hard to charge for everything other than the oil and filter. The work done will doubtless be substandard too so they'll be doing bad things to your vehicle in the name of servicing.

Of course you're right, an indie probably does perform a better service.

Was told brake fluid needs to be changed every 3 years and mine is due to be done. I only phoned up to book it for an MOT.
