Fuse permanent power dash cam connecting RRS L 494

I am from Belgium and new on this forum.
Ik have a RRS l494 2017.
I Got as a present a dashcam DOD RC 500s
Can any one help me to find a fuse with constant power in the passenger box, so I can connect the dashcam with permanent power.
The dashcam has protection against battery empty failure with the DP4 Hardware kit.
Thanks in advance

There are some in the fuse box behind the glove box. I am looking to do the same, but only to an ignition live (piggybacking com heating steering wheel fuse). There's also a convenient earth but you will need a 90 degree socket tool to loosen it. Will get my multimeter back out and find a permanent live for you when I next have a fiddle.

Bertham, mine is a 16 plate 5.0 so I can’t say they are the same... but I have used fuse 49 as a 5amp permanent positive supply and fuse 52 which is a 10 amp switched ignition supply .... hope this helps...

It is made far easier using an add a fuse connector...however you will need to order the micro versions as they are tiny tiny fuses...good luck!

Is it fuse 49 5A "Vehicle immobiliser" for permanet power?
I use the micro 2 fuse in the bypass.
For my DOD I only use permanent power without risk of battery drain.
I will try the 49 today.

Anyway Thank you again for your help.

When I installed my Thinkware I took permanent live from the glove box fuse that supplied the horn. Just check your horn works when the key not in. If it does then it’s permanent live

I used a piggy back fuse to connect. Robin

Good stuff, I used 43 for ignition live (heated steering wheel). Useful info for future ref for anyone looking to fit a dashcam.

Glad to hear that you’ve got a good result. And I’m not trying to labour the point, but my reason for choosing the horn fuse (if it’s permanent live on your models) is that it’s very infrequently used and then only briefly. I calculated that taking power from this one would minimise any stress or voltage drop if say you were using your heated steering wheel and dash cam together. It’s probably not a point worth worrying about but that was my thinking anyway Thumbs Up Robin

Dashcam power consumption will be very low. Furthermore if there became a fault with the piggyback add a fuse circuit I'd want to know. I use the heated steering wheel more than my horn, so will notice that more quickly. Just my 2 pence worth.

As an side, I'm not sure how people have run the cable up the A pillar, but I've managed to route it above the headlining (so runs diagonally from above the left passenger window and emerges part way out along the top of the windscreen making it very discreet. I used a flexible rod to create the path and then taped the cable to the end of the rod and pulled it through.

Good thinking MrM. Thumbs Up

As far as I recall my wire just ran a;; the way down the edge of the windscreen under the headlining and then down behind the A pillar trim, and again left a very neat finish. Not so for the rear camera which I still need to improve. Robin
