So I went to collect the tyres from the garage that was holding them for the seller. Very big business with huge workshop and many employees. The contact person there had my details. He brought the tyres out for me. I inspected them, correct make/model and condition exactly as explained to me (no damage or repairs, not even minor and pretty much all of the tread still present) - great! Only one “minor” issue - they were 275/40/R22

I could not get hold of the seller immediately but spoke to them later. Apparently the garage up and *may* have sold/misplaced their tyres and/or provided wrong info Seller will find out what happened and let me know.

I have been refunded already but that doesn’t bring back the precious hours I lost. Emptying the boot, removing child seats to fold the rear seats down, laying protection on boot floor and seat backs, 45 min journey to the garage in heavy traffic and then the reverse of all of that after the unsuccessful transaction. What a waste of time and effort! I struggled to fit this in and it was stressful to make sure everything else I still had to do before and after, ran like clockwork.

From past experience with wheels and tyres always try to go and have a look,
as no matter how many questions you ask there is always something to leg you up
have been to a set of 19" with 1 different size tyre, he had just bought the car from a dealer and moved to 21" he had no idea 1 odd tyre and had been using it for a couple of weeks.
another set of 4 alloys, where 2 of each pattern, they had been same style on each side of the car though

But look on the bright side yes it messed you up and Time is Valuable, but at least you did not have them Shipped

It is maddening that sellers cannot take time to both proof read, and then ensure they are listing the correct item for sale. How can you get the size mixed up with these larger wheels.
The seller should pay for wasted journey time etc. So annoying for you.  John
