Warranty Packages for L494
Hi all
My nearly 4 year old L494 (lovely) 3.0 Autobiography (with deployable steps) Warranty Package is coming to an end in a couple of months
- LR are quoting close to £100/month which I think is unnecessarily high (except to LR as it makes a healthy margin)
- Warranty Direct are quoting £544/per year
What are the typical issues that need to be considered, who are the main firms that provide covers and how good are these firms?

Horrific read!
Mind you I had the previous model from a main dealer and it was a dog (in terms of reliability)...although a beautiful one

I went with Warranty Direct having carefully studying their policy and the LR backed one as well as a couple of others. This is for a MY12 3.0SDV6 Autobiography, and the prices were similar to what you mentioned.
My opinion is you can only go with the wording to differentiate between policies as reputations for this sort of thing are invariably mixed. Typically absolute delight from those who's claims have been accepted and outright fury from those rejected.
You would have thought that the LR backed policy would be better, especially at the price, and it does include some nice features re loan cars etc. But, as it appears that it's not actually backed by LR and that they don't seem to be covering snapped crankshafts and other "known" faults (known to whom is not clear), I'm not sure they're worth the extra premium. Not in my opinion anyway.Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
