A-Plan Insurance Renewal

Re: R.R.Sport TDI 3.6 MY2010 with Khan/Cosworth upgrades...i.e. body kit, exhaust, engine chip etc.

Before renewing with A-Plan at the end of the month I'd be grateful for opinions on their quote of £480 p.a. ....Last year it was £460 based on a value of £28K and I live in a rural village location. I didn't think this was too bad but rather than phone around thought I'd ask here.

I'm 66yrs. old with 9 years NCD, no endorsements, 5000 miles P.A. limit and £400 excess.

Thanks

I agree Steve...the premium hasn't gone up, only the I.P.Tax by about £20.

I'm not suggesting the renewal figure is high but curious to what others pay. It's probably a silly question as everyone's criteria is somewhat bespoke anyway!

Thanks....Bill

Ah right. Yeah it`s a bit, how long is a piece of string I suppose. I thought by my age, after years of paying silly premiums.....I`d now be paying around a tenner.....but it`s not the case Laughing

A lot goes on your postcode....it should go on the individuals driving record, not where they live but hey ho Evil or Very Mad Steve.

Similar price to mine with LR insurance, similar circumstances 40+ years NCD, rural area, garaged for a MY16.

You can always half the premium, just don't expect them to pay-out or do a proper repair.

I had a very good quote from NFU, policy was OK until it came to who would repair the car and it was the local bodge shop, courtesy car for only 2 weeks IF one was available. I could insist it went to a LR dealer no problem but my nearest dealer is 125 miles away for which I would probably get a towing charge and no courtesy car, unless the dealer was feeling generous.

You pays your money and takes your choice! 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018
2015 MY16 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, ebony/cirrus, sliding pano, cameras, black wheels - Arrived 1 October 2015

Perhaps there is a loading because I disclosed it being non standard i.e. Khan/Cosworth modifications although it's only about 30 BHP greater....guessing repair costs would be higher if the 22" embossed Khan Cosworth wheels were damaged beyond repair or the other bits of body kit.
My main drive is and old Nissan Navara (57 reg) which I've had from one year old and this costs around £450 pa because I'm told it's commercial yet I only cover around 3000 miles p.a, doubt it's worth £5K now.
