The only reason I would not buy an LC200 is that it is only available with a 4.6l V8 Petrol here in AUS. You have to buy a Lexus version to get the 5.7l V8 Petrol and it has the most ugly plastic body kit mankind can design. Elsewhere in the world you can buy an LC200 with a 5.7l V8 Petrol. The 4.7L only has 227kW of power which is not quite enough.

The LC200 is significantly less in price compared to an RRS and the resale price is second to none, plus it doesn't have anywhere near the quality issues a RR has.

Why can't RR build a much simpler, more reliable car. I believe there are a lot of people who would buy a RRS with a decent engine but none of that electronic go wrong stuff that seems to be flavour of the minute at the moment and still pay a lot of money for it.

Luxury is not based upon how much electronic frippery is installed.

Check out the prices of 20 year old V8 Defender 90's in the US.

It depends how low down the food chain your ego will let you go.

Also, put it this way, very few people buy an expensive TV these days for two reasons.
- They get out of date very quickly.
- When they go wrong, you throw them away as they are not worth repairing, no one knows how to repair them and no one carries spare parts to repair them anyway.

New cars are now like TV's.

If you buy a cheap car your less likely to get bitter and twisted when it goes wrong becuase you didnt pay very much and generally they are less likely to go wrong compared to expensive cars. And if they don't go wrong you go yey how good is this.

Next scenario, you buy an expensive car and nothing goes wrong. You go well I paid all that money so it shouldnt go wrong - I made the right decission. How likely is that - these days not much, so you go I paid all that money and got ripped off, the manufacturer/dealer wont fix it or cant fix it. Not happy Jan (If you are in Aus you will know what Not Happy Jan means).

Buy a car now is like gambling, the more you spend the more you will likely lose.

Plus when it goes wrong the better half will give you a hard time about buying that stupid car.

Came on here because was going to upgrade to a RRS that I'll stick with my 13 old D2 had it 3 years and it's cost me £1800, £800 of that was for a clutch. and my previous 21yr old 300TDI is still going last time I checked.

Don't blame you, I came from a D2 to RRS, not a day goes by that I don't regret moving to the RRS, the D2 served well for 12 years and never let me down or surprised me with ridiculous bills. Nanocom Evo

I traded my 2001 V8 D2 on my current 2010 TDV8 (bought new). The D2 was super reliable compared to the RRS

Ive seen 3 velar’s,,1 on the road & 2 in LR dealers at Pickering that they can’t sell because they are overpriced.
