dunno.

But it appears its worth removing the shoes and lubricating the arm on the rear of the shoe and then reassemble and adjust once in your ownership.

This will be one less reason for the rear brakes to seize on.

Yes the EPB screech occurred whilst we were in Spain. Park brake got stuck on and i had to emergency release on the cable under the centre console.

Car is currently at the dealership for a warrenty claim but they say after adjusting the rear shoes and not finding any damage to any components the EPB Module is now working again so will not be replaced

Chris's decided to throw a wobbly on him halfway along a track in Spain. Much cussing and grring about the EPB ensued. Didn't ruin the weekend though

No reason to replace the module, they just reset it, clean/adjust the shoes and in-wheel mechanism.

Mine has been reset a couple of times now. I asked my garage to clean/adjust the in-wheel end of mine after Les Comes.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

When doing a lot of off road driving the handbook says the EPB should be inspected and cleaned, yet dealer said to wait for next service. Would this cause a future problem that many have either had or moaned about?
Car always had a full clean, and underneath etc after returning from a off road session, but if frequently done, it would get expensive to keep returning it for clean/inspection.  John

I did not think it was a service item to strip/clean only to adjust it
at least that is what I was told by the main dealer, if no issue reported they adjust if required at service, that's it.
although
the indi I spoke to did say they do strip/clean at every service

(that was the 2010 rrs)

As u suspect.

It's kind of worth driving it to see what happens.

If u want to know when it's been done. Time the duration from pulling the P and the noise stopping.
And time release.
Repeat to get average 3 times.

Do this after the 'Service' (remind um). If the times are different it's been adjusted.

Mine actually takes longer now it's got oil/grease as the cable moves further and important ly backs off further

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT :
After 50 miles continuous use in severe off road conditions - wading, deep mud and abrasive grit/slurry - the electric park brake should be inspected, cleaned and adjusted, and the ancillary drive belt should be inspected and cleaned.

It says this in the schedule you posted Rob, who knew!!

Thanks for info, I had read this in my handbook but hadn't heard of this requirement on here.
I generally cover 50-75 miles when going off road on all mentioned conditions. Will pay more attention when returning to driving. This is going to get expensive.
On my service report the EPB has never been mentioned at being checked etc, strange as it's on service sheet for MY2012.  John

I guess the shoes can get wet and muddy though

I guess it all depends if you are in water

Ancillary drive belt is checked to ensure no muddy water has deposited a layer of crud on it or the pulleys. After a while, said crud could cause an issue if left in the grooves. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
