Had the car go in to have some work done on my 17my atb and i mentioned the brakes making a squealing sound when braking and today the dealership called to say that as per a LR bulletin they have replaced all 4 brake pads so in case anyone else has the same issues as me LR are aware and are providing a fix.

Just got my MY17 back from LR as my car was squealing all the time regardless of me using the brakes. The've pinpointed the problem to the front brakes and said the same to me, so only replaced the front.

To be honest I wish that was the only problem I had, my car has spent the day connected to their computers being updated. One thing I have noticed is the Infotainment system has been updated which has changed the GUI.

I am having major issues with mine too and service rang me back saying that there is no latest update. Is there any way you know what software version you are running. Have you any pics of the new GUI as i can compare with mine tomorrow when i collect my car. Thanks

Not sure what the software version is, I'll try and find a way to get it. For now attached are some photos, the most obvious one is when you press the settings, it now gives you more options and is laid out different than before. Connectivity has changed as well so hopefully the phone data has improved!

I had the squealing brakes and had LR replace my front pads twice. First set was actually worse and second set was good for awhile but started squeaking again.

Went with disc Italia ceramic aftermarket brake pads and so much happier. Minimal squeal and best of all hardly any brake dust. In a months time I have less dust than I had after a few days with the OEM pads. 2016 SCV8 Dynamic - Firenze Red/Pimento

JLR have a major issue here!

My MY15 RRS - squeaking brakes - changed discs all round and pads twice - it kept coming back - eventually sold but was still squeaking!

Have had various MY17 loaners from them too - all squeaked

Wife Evoque MY 17 - Squeaks - brake pads changed - fine for 1000 miles then it started again - apparently no cure yet

Now The Velar - 2200 miles done and it started!!!!!!!! Yes the Velar is squeaking too !

Something is seriously up at the Quality end there!

My 17 Svr squealed like mad when I first got it, very loud and almost constant , whether on the brakes or not.
I got the pads swapped out under warranty it’s been fine for 2k odd since .


We got a velar incoming at some point if that squeaks that ll be going back until it’s fixed, they ll be able to fix the body work she ll have no doubt damaged by that point too

No cars should have squealing brakes definitley not at the 100k mark either .

How's the car?

Got a call this morning to say that a software update for the itch was applied to the car overnight and this morning they could not get the itcp to come back on so I have no idea when I am going to get my car back. Have to say that been a bmw customer for 20 years and never once had any software bugs and since I became a LR customer for the first time this year it truly has shocked me how crap the software engineers/quality control people are at Land Rover (designers I am happy with!)

I think they have wrong people writing programs for LR, some bought in, and they don’t listen to what customers want or seem to worry about doing any full tests in real world, no customer service or satisfaction is the result, they must now be loosing more customers than they are gaining.  John
