Retrofit phone module

Greetings,

I've searched the forum but not found exactly the answer I'm looking for so here goes...

I have an '06 TDV6 without any 'phone connection (it says phone not installed ' (or similar) if I try to use any controls). I'd usually fit a parrot kit as I have to previous cars but the Harmon Kandon system seems to make this complicated and expensive. Having gone down this route on previous LRs it usually ends up with a massive 'crash' when an audio relay switches.

If possible, I'd like to avoid any of the modules that use the Aux connector or FM transmitters.

To get Bluetooth connectivity, is it just a case of retrofitting a 'phone control module' and, if so, do the various manufacturers (Nokia, Motorola, etc.,) mean they only connect with 'phones of those brands, or are they essentially same?

My use of a 'phone is typically rare and little more than "Let me pull over and I'll ring you back" but it needs to be with the minimum of distracting faff.

Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks,

Hugh

It is possible to fit a parrot or similar.

The headunit has a mute and audio input (on smaller connector)

Pin

10 Mute
3 Audio In +
5 Audio In -

Obviously the controls won't work with it though.

P.S My nokia kit, works with my iPhone 5 & 6

Are you sure your rrs doesn't already have the bluetooth installed?

Mine said "phone not installed" when i pressed any of the phone buttons before i had worked out how to connect my ohone via bluetooth.

HughN,

Which controls are you actually talking about exactly?

Do you have the two circled buttons on your steering wheel?

If so you have some sort of OEM Telephony System installed. Have you tried pairing your phone whist the Sport is running?

Cheers
