You need to be a bit careful you don't knock the £400 bit of kit with your foot, but it is possible to drive with it |

Fair enough. Wasn't sure if it was just a cartridge or bulky. I'll order one and find out I suppose! |

Around the size of a packet of 20 fags, and only slightly dearer these days I think. |

Took it to the office again today with my fingers crossed the whole way. After around 30 mins it idles a bit rough and there's a definitely lumpy patch around 1100RPM. Coming up to junctions or moving in slow traffic you can feel it. Felt like it was going to conk out on the m4 queuing with the slip road shut |

IID tool on the way. Paid a bit over the odds for the sake of getting it quickly as I don't really have the luxury of time getting this sorted. Becoming a PITA whenever I have to drive it to work. Fingers crossed I can take it out for an hour or so with the tool plugged in and get a fault code. |

IID reported a lot of fault codes. Slowly search each one on the forum.

I guess you just replace the switch.

Hadn't spotted your reply Col, sorry. That particular code hasn't come back since that date. Wondering if it's from when the car went into the garage or something.

Could be prematurely worn timing chain guides, from what I’ve read in the past, this is a known issue with the 5.0 SC and is diagnosed by a rattle/knock at idle.

Could timing chain issues could cause misfires? Maybe that's a good lead... |
