Ok so I figured the 2009 facelift of the RRS when it became a 3.0 diesel unit meant they were all SDV6 engines, however I have been reading that the TDV6 still existed - is this right?

See - conflicting information already! Lol! I keep finding different answers in different places. I initially assumed all 3.0 cars were the facelifted SDV6 engines, however I then started to notice a number of 2009/2010 facelifted cars advertised as TDV6, then I read somewhere 3.0 TDV6 was 225bhp and 3.0 SDV6 was 245bhp or something similar so I am not overly sure?!?

I thought the tdv6 was only in 2.7 and the sdv6 was when they went to the 3.0 and yea you could still get the 2.7 in the early disco 4 but have been wrong on numerous points so stand to be corrected |

Mine is a 62 plate and if you reg check it then it comes up SDv6. I was told they changed to sdv6 when they upgraded to the 8 speed box and power is 252 bhp. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

and just to add to the confusion, in ZA (and I presume other ROW markets), the early D4s were labelled as 3.0 TDV6, yet the engine was the 188kW 3.0, aka the SDV6.

This was confused more when a trader friend of mine advertised a 2010 3.0 and when he input the reg into his Auto Trader advertising account which pre-populates a lot of the information about the car based on reg number, it titled the car a 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6!

You can also tell by the boot,,on the tdv6 Rangerover is across the bottom but the sdv6 is just below rear window,,unless someone has changed the boot lid.

Ok so based on all of the above I have decided the car I am looking at is a facelift car however is still using the TDV6 engine all be it in 3.0 guise - Auto Trader as if to sell it and and it returned the details and listed it as 2953cc TDV6 so that settles it I guess.

the 3L has 2 turbos instead of 1, but beware of the issue with the cranks breaking!

Naks - not heard of this issue - how common is this?? Is there any preventative maintenance that can be done to avoid it? I am planning to buy a LR warranty as it meets their criteria in terms of age/mileage and has full dealership history so hopefully that will provide some peace of mind.
