hi, does anyone know for certain, i gave my range rover sport into a garage to have a new aircon condenser fitted, went in yesterday afternoon expecting to collect my car, was told its going to take more then a day to do as its a big job, when i went to see what they have done so far i see the compressor had been taken out, im 99% sure that the compressor doesnt need to come out but i need to know 100% before i query the invoice i will get on tuesday.

I did mine on my supercharged. Took approx 3.5 houres. Make sure you have lower bumper bolts as they have a tendency to break. It is only a radiator so does not need the compressor removing.

Hello Steve
The book time for changing the condenser is 4 hours, so don't know why they say it's a big job that takes over a day.
It is literally remove bumper, slam bar,Lights and a few other bits and bobs. Drill and tap all broken bolts. Disconnect the condenser, takes some wobbling to remove. Then install new unit and rebuild. No moving parts are removed at all, the compressor is not even near, so does not need removing.
Price should be 1 condenser (approx £100) plus 4 hours labour and approx £20 of bolts MY12 RRS HSE

hi mick, i supplied the condenser which was roughly about £100 then the garage charged me £175 to change and re-gas
so £700 is very very expensive

It's no where near that price at a proper LR Service Centre, and comes with a two year warranty.
This is the problem of taking these specialist cars to people who have no idea what's what, there are I will admit some very good independents out there, and I bet these who are stripping yours, don't have a service manual due to LR price, sounds the sort of place that uses a Haynes manual, which unfortunately isn't available.
I'd be looking at paying half that amount, I presume that includes VAT. Whistle John

I think it was a £300-£400 job when I had mine done at an expensive (but good) indy. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available
