Hi folks,

I've been using poorboys for awhile now but I've never remembered to take before and after shots. I use the blackhole Polish maybe once a month, the SSR1 I use as and when required. I also found that the 16oz bottles were too small and that the 32oz bottles are far better economy.

So some delightful 'person' decided that rather than putting another shunt in to get out of the spot cleanly, they thought instead that simple pushing past the corner of my car was the best solution.

So first I cleaned the area and dried, I then applied Poorboys SSR1 with an orbital polisher for around a 2 or 3 mins with a reasonable amount of pressure. (Quick tip: don't leave SSR1 on too long it sets like wheatabix!!, so work a panel at a time ) removed with a microfibre cloth, swapped pads and then applied Poorboys Blackhole, again with the orbital. Couple of mins light pressure, allow a couple more mins for it to glaze and then removed with a microfibre cloth.

And ta-dah!!!





The eagle eyed among you may have spotted that this isn't the bumper of a sport (thank god they hit the runabout and not my joy ), bonus points if you can guess what it is

They were technically work wear as I had them on while doing the polishing haha Tbh I live in the sleepy south so....

I can't really take credit for the work, it was all down to the polish, I only have a cheap £30 halfrauds polisher, so like I said, I didn't do anything special

On a seperate occasion I had to dive into a hedge with the RRS and a large branch hit the side and left a nice scratch from the headlight to the tail light. When I got home and saw it I nearly cried Luckily, Poorboys worked it's magic and the scratch was gone in 20 mins.

Which Halfrauds polisher do you have? Often thought about getting one. I assume it`s a D/A one? Steve.

It's not a true DA polisher, and looking on their website the look to have stopped selling it (granted it was only a quick look) but I found one the same here:

But I'm not overly happy with it, the head is too big and it is quite slow, so it takes a long time to do anything. I've been looking at getting one of these to replace it:

I had seen that and I've done some looking round, the one I listed on amazon is pretty much the same as the one in Argos, but you get a few extra heads and things.

I have NO idea why anyone would want to spend £300 on an oversized dremel.. I get great results with the £30 halfords special, I'm friends with a chap who has a body shop and he uses a £50 or £60 polisher he bought from screwfix.

The heads make the most difference and are where it's worth investing your money, but the amount of money they're spending on a polisher is akin to the chaps who use gold plated + shielded power cords for their hi-fi's, sure they will make a difference (when measured by a computer), but the difference is that small I would much rather have the £300 in my pocket and stick with a £40 polisher.

TDV8HST - That's not bad, but it's not a DA orbital, it's basically an angle grinder..

That's a rotary polisher, it has advantages and disadvantages over a Dual action polisher, but for someone just starting out I would recommend the DA polisher, it's a lot more forgiving though it does take longer to get the result you want.
